Thesis On the 16th of December in 1773, in Boston, Massachusetts, 150 men from three companies disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians. They went into three ships and dumped 342 crates of tea into the water at the Boston Harbor. What mainly caused this event was from protestors against the Tea Act of May 10th, 1773. After the Tea Party, King George lll shut down the Port of Boston. This wouldn't allow any ships to pass through the Boston Harbor. It relates to the topic because we got freedom from Britain. It also relates to the topic because of the jobs and the laws that people had and had to obey and the time. It is very important because if this wouldn't have happened, they wouldn't have gotten their freedom.
"In about three hours from the time we went on board, we had thus broken and thrown overboard every tea chest to be found on the ship, while those in the other ships were disposing of the tea in the same way, at the same time. We were surrounded by the British armed ships, but no attempt was made to resist us...And it was observed at that time that the stillest night ensued that Boston had enjoyed for many months." ~ George Hewes
